i will probably be getting a gecko soon enough, leaning towards a barking gecko, but just want to see what other people say about whats best i would prefer an easier kept species, would like a arboreal species but don't care if its terrestrial, and one that doesn't need much heating/lighting or none at all. what do you think?

Go for a thick tail as they don't need heating if kept in room temperature. Unless it gets cold where you are then it will need a heat mat that is thermostatically controlled. Thick Tails are easy to keep and good for beginners like yourself.

Marbled Gecko (Christinus marmoratus) and Knob-Tailed Gecko (Nephrurus Levis) are great starter geckos :D
