what pythons/dragons/geckos/frogs/poisonissnakes/skinks ect am i likely to find from a drive from sydney to alice springs and around alice springs? ad what is the best timeof year to see them?:)

Sorry, but nobody is going to answer your question because it cannot be answered as such. If you pick any given location between Sydney and Alice Springs, and given you haven’t even specified a specific route, there is almost an infinite number of those, what you are likely to see will depend on such things as – What lives in that area, what time of day or night it is, air temperature, road temperature, amount of moisture around, whether it has rained recently, whether conditions are especially dry, the amount of sunshine, the amount, type and effects of cloud cover, how good you are at picking up movement with your eyes, What speed you are travelling, whether you are on bitumen or unsealed road, whether you scan the edges of the road and beyond or not, whether you have someone to help look while you drive, whether you stop and go for a wander into the bush, whether you wear a head torch when night spotting, whether you turn over surface debris (which should always be replaced as it was when you found it!), the time of year, whether preceding seasons have had good rains or not, etc. Last, but by no means least – dumb, random, luck!

Buy yourself a field guide and look at the distribution maps (and read the species notes) in relation to what route you intend to take to get there. That will give you some idea of what might be around. Then read the related herping threads in this forum to pick up tips for improving your chances of seeing things. Get out of the car at appropriate places, like rocky outcrops, dry creek beds, dunes or swales, lakes, woodland patches and the like and go for a wander. You usually don’t have to go far. And if you have no experience in the bush, then always stay in eyesight of your car and take a water bottle and compass in case you do lose eye contact. I should not have to say make sure you wear appropriate clothing for bushwalking, particularly where there is long grass of any description and don’t forget the compression bandages.

If all that sounds too hard, stick with car and dumb luck and go visit the Reptile Park when in Alice.

Snakes are venemous not poisonous. Except for pythons that is.

Blue is spot on there, and there could be a solid 200 species that are there, and you probably wouldn't see even a quater of that.

Look through the OP's other 26 post they are all similar to this one.
