Hi guys i'm thinking of going back to uni any one here finished a degree in biology/zoology or any related field. Iv been doing a lot of research as to what type of jobs are available but id be interested to see what you guys are doing and what sort of salary your on your years of experience that sort off thing i’m thinking of going to Latrobe in Bundoora what have your experiences with it been. if any one feels uncomfortable discussing this on the forum please pm..Any feedback would be very valuable

I'm at Latrobe doing Biological Science :D I'm only in 1st year though.

its not realy the course that im concerned about lol i now ill love it .. **** bio was the only subject i ever realy went to in high school but im more concerned about being broke after i finish it

yeah im in my final year of medical science at the ANU, Im in the process of getting together some info for entry into veterinary science for next yr. Most people who are interested in a career of research aint really in it for the money, usually to secure a decent research position a PHD would required, and thats a yr of honors and 3 yrs of post doc studies after completeing undergrad studies. If your serious about getting back into your study and looking for a career in it, I suggest you contact the unis, they will be able to answer most of your questions :)

Hope this helps

oh yeah and the being broke part, i have a 19k HECS debt over my head :)

Hey Elias. I completed the Biol Science course at Latrobe. It is a good course and gives you plenty of opportunities to specialise, but as DIF said, unless you want to complete honours and do a further post grad you may struggle to find a decent paying job at the end.

I was working as a public servant part time and studying part time, and it turns out I was earning more working part time whilst at uni than my friends did the first couple of years as a graduate. ( I personally would have been better off doing a trade) Because my main reasons for studying Biol Science involved my love for reptiles, which as long as I can keep them at home I'm happy!! So it really didn't matter where I ended up, as long as I enjoyed my work, of course by the way, the degree did help me get the job I am currently working in.

Cheers Rossco.

elias, just don't do statistics and you'll love it
