Morelia spilota mcdowelli can they be housed outdoor in Sydney West ie could they handle the cold outdoor winter temps.

Brad Walker houses some of his adult Mcdowelli in outside enclosure's/aviaries and has no problem keeping and breeding them and he is Sydney based.

He wrote an article in Keeping and Breeding Australian Pythons on Mcdowelli and there is a picture of one of his outdoor enclosure's

I think as long as you provide a suitable hot spot/spots you should be fine.

So I guess as long as they have got a basking spot in winter and a hiding spot to keep out of the extreme cold or rain it will be ok. Would I need an artificial heater for outdoors or does it get hot enough out here.

You would have to have a heat source for sure. You would control it via a thermostat. So when we have hot days it will not cut on as much.
