Hi folks, I was wondering what the average price generally asked for,

(a) 6 month old Green pythons

(b) 2 and a half year old Green pythons.

I am asking on behalf of a friend who for the first time will be offering a few for sale and he (and myself for that matter) are a bit out of touch with what is generally the going rate (for want of better words) and he has asked me for my advice.
All green python are of mixed linage e.g. URS x Adrian Hemins , Adrian Hemins X Stuart Barnes.
None of the adults are thought to be of Australian blood lines.
I realise that an animal is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for so please forget that line of response if you would.
All greens are perfectly healthy and established feeders held by one of the best keepers this country is ever likely to come across (in my humble opinion). I have no pics but I am told they are fine looking critters. Comments very much appreciated.

Kind Regards Dave

URS had some for sale (hatchies) for about $1450 a few months ago. Dont know if they were native gtps or not.

As for the adults from about $3000 to $5000. from just what I have seen.

Let us know what you may sell the hatchies for as I may be interested.

Cheers

6 months old unsexed $1250
2.5 year male $2k
2.5 year female $3k

Mate, are you actually selling GTPs for those prices? Are you a middleman?
If not, how can you be so accurate, I mean down to $50.-. That's pretty good!

The logic is that unsexed pairs would sell for $2500
and sexed older pairs for $5000.. and yes I do manage a multi million dollar buisness!

dottyback, seriously and without any sarcasm, having a second look at your predicted figures, you are so far off the mark, it's not funny. I can say that with a great deal of confidence because I KNOW what I'll be selling my GTPs for in October.
Can you explain what you mean by "unsexed pairs"?

A friend of mine looked at some for sale a month or so ago and found the cheaper ones all had health or weight issues some were advertised as in perfect health well imo thats a big call but something l believe is relevant to greens is no weights were advertised with the snakes or the size of the food or what they were eating....now l will go out on a limb here and say that those green keepers that say [with the ones for sale] they have been bought along slowly as they are not cowboy [fast] feeders....what a lot of crap, young healthy greens would have to be the most robust feeders l have seen and that includes womas and sensibly set-up are easy to keep....one last point "dottyback" personally l have yet to see an adult female green [2.5 yrs old] in "good health" for $3000.00 l would have thought more like $4k++ non native... cheers solar 17 [Baden]

lol maybe there is a training course we can all do with reptile pricing then no one would have to ask this question lol

Dont worry Pilbara, the price dosnt matter...as long as you keep & breed Gtps you are the Bees knees ;)

"fusion" l think its a shame you couldn't had some realistic input into this thread...cheers solar 17 [Baden]

Thanks for all the imput people, I much appreciate it.
I found a pic of one pair of the 8 year old breeeders, the left one is original URS line ( Roly Burrel) and the crazy looking thing on the right is from Stuart Barnes.

Here is a realistic input: why don't we retire from this thread, wait till the end of the year or whenever breeders release their hatchoes onto the market and see what they're asking. I think it would be kind to both sellers and buyers instead of trying artificially manipulate the market

As silly as this thread might appear it has at least helped myself and my friend who (like I said) had not much of an idea on the marketing side of things at the present moment. Of course there will always be silly comments in a threads like this one but I just skip over them.

Cheers Dave

Dave check out URS, they had some little while ago, young were $1400 each, yrlings were 2k for males and 3 k for females roughly.
His aniamls are similar lineage to the ones you suggested. As more are bred, the price will come down, some people dont like reading it,
they need to just get over it. If anyone is in the market for greens this yr please do some reaserch in to breeders this way you know what your getting.

set your own prices.. be a trend setter.. lol.. put a price on them, if they dont sell lower your price.. pretty simple really..

Nice looking pythons Dave your mate should have no probs finding buyers for them :)

Can you explain what you mean by "usexed pairs"? Now, that's logic & expertise!

perhaps you are right Michael, the prices i have stated are somewhat pricey in this current market. Rather than have a 'dig' what prices are you actually selling them for? and I mean the selling prices not the asking price ? and what price would you put on the pair David has posted?
