Hubby now wants a roughie, so looking into getitng one next year. i saw that snake ranch had some on offer with their 20/20 sale but was wondering if there are going to be any at the expo next year. was there any last year? if there are going to be some, would they be cheaper or more expensive than what you can normally buy them for? cheers :)

I don't think anyone can really answer your question.
I presume that IF they had some left over they will bring them to the expo, really not sure whether the price will be dearer or cheaper.

Awesome snakes, I highly recommend one! There will be plenty around this season. The current average going price for a Roughy is already cheaper than this seasons 20/20 price.

also, in regards to the rps, read that they can be hard to get onto rodents - is this the case? when you purchase them are they normally weaned onto rodents? is it better to buy an adult?

I'm not sure what everyones fascination with buying at expo's is, it is usually the stock that people haven't been able to move, not to mention the quarantine issues. Try contacting gridheinz if you are after roughies.

exactly what Ive always thought.. and cant understand people's obsession with getting the "cheapest" possible animals.
I've always been more inclined to pay a little more for quality animals and get the BEST I possibly can rather than the cheapest I can find :D

Can you point me to an ad or a seller right now?

I know of two people that both have a pair for sale (adults) and quality animals
one's in NSW and the others in QLD.

pm me for their contact details if your interested but they will be a little bit more than hatchie price..

i had thought the same thing about the quality of snakes at the expo as well. def something to ponder. thanks for all the pm's guys :)

the way i see it, If you want something bad enough you will do what you need to do to get it. Also the breeder has put in the time and effort to bring those animals to the point of sale. They deserve to get a fair price for it.

I don't think he can - have we seen this before?

Still waiting ..........

You see, that's how BS happens.

It seems my post from yesterday has been removed..So I'll re-word it & post again..
Very recently there was a reputable business in SA, that had yearling RSP's advertised, of both sex, for $350 each.
So I think you need to make sure you have your facts before you start BS'ing around the forums! ;-)

I think my post disappeared too. Did I use a naughty word like the initials for another selling site? I'll reword "There's an ad on a well known site that came up yesterday for an adult pair for $900".

By the time of the Expos they will be cheaper than Bredls!

I puposely leave the license at home when i go to expos to help stem the temptation of the "buy it now" lol.
I go to them to see some displays and animals that I may otherwise not normally see (like Moloch horridus and Egernia depressa from the ASDP displays at the wild expo from a couple of years ago)

Expos are for cheap gear not cheap animals....

Id never buy from these website adverting sites myself unless I actually knew the bloke advertising.. these days with OPMV and other terrible diseases (with no cure except culling your collection) around who in their right mind would buy anything from someone they didnt know and trust or from a known source with a good reputation?

especially to "save a few dollars" and those few scabby dollars saved could go in vet bills and you could end up losing your whole collection or at least a few animals if you have decent quarantine. most people have NO quarantine.. so save a few dollars and maybe loose thousands of dollars worth of animals.. and the sentimental value as well of your loved reptiles.. there's no price on that and just a lot of heartbreak..

just because some one makes a "website" proclaiming themselves some professional and super breeder it doesn't mean squat diddly especially when no one's ever heard of them.. so many dodgy "instant website breeders" kicking around these days I think. I avoid these websites and breeders like the plague no matter what their selling for whatever price.. I dont even bother looking. I dont bother going to organised "sale meets" either as a buyer or seller..

good reputations for good animals are earned over time.. not instantly aquired by some smoke and mirrors website or advert.. we have a market feedback section on here > use it.. and ask people you trust where to buy and who to buy from.

as with most things in life, if you want the best and want quality you usually have to pay for it..

just my opinion :D

Pay the money and buy top quality and you will only produce top quality... ;)

I agree but there are a lot of people who don't recognise quality if they stumble over it. "Looks and price" seem to be the criteria and it's a pity.

Colin what if they have a website to show there animals off as they have pride in there collection and want to share. Does this mean im doggy because i have a website.
