Hi 4NICK8,
Just got your PM. Here is an example of how NPWS is behind the times. Amyae are on specialist permit until NPWS get their act together. This is stupididty as you are more likely to find an amyae available for sale than an asper. The person selling the animals will want ot be careful as they may get a nasty ph call from NPWS. The problem has stemmed from the splitting of amyae and sheai from asper and SA NPWS are still trying to catch up. A lot of amyae were kept under asper, but there should be no excuse for that now, especially if these are young animals.
When I originally inported my first amyae I actually had to tell NPWS what the species code was for amyae. They approved my import application, but gave it back to me with the asper species code on it, even though I had given them the amyae code. It was all too difficult for them. The coding system is uniform throughout the country so the code I got from NT is that same used everywhere else. When my animals arrived I explained to them that they were amyae and that I was going to use the amyae code I got from NT. The person in the office (Robert I think) said that was fine and I haven't had any issues since.
