Losing 3 seems really dramatic but in the semi wild worse things happen. We had about 3 or 4 clutches of 10+ swimming around the school damn one day and after the weekend they were all gone - the little kids were told they grew up and flew away :S

Yes, they are now down to 5. Down the river there are a lot more predators than in our backyard. There are some resident eagles, so they wouldn't stand a chance.

It will be very sad to see mum loose all bubs and then fly away though.

dont try and rehome them it wont be long till there gone soon and as for the duck turd just hose it or scoop it up and put it in the garden

but you should enjoy it while it lasts
