I apologize in advance as this question has probably already been asked, but I can't find previous posts.

I recently acquired a 2yo male BHP. He's approximately 1.4m long, haven't got a weight on him yet.
His previous owner fed him 3 medium rats in one sitting monthly. Is this ideal? Could I up the size of the rat and feed him more often? or feed a medium rat weekly?
He's currently in his 'settling in' period in his new enclosure so he hasn't been fed yet since I've had him. I'm happy to continue how he's been fed previously but was thinking it may be easier and less costly to look into other options. Also, how would a BHP go with a mix diet of rats and quail, or soley quail?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Some keepers of aspidites are concerned with what is known as Fatty Liver Disease, so they prefer to feed less fatty prey items to their animals. This could be the reason the previous owner was feeding 3 medium rats as opposed to 1 jumbo rat.

Personally I would be following a similar regime, but you could try mixing it up a bit with rabbits & quail as well. As for quail being the sole diet, that is something I've never done, but that isn't to say it isn't possible.
