Went out for a drive last night with Slim6y, was pretty quiet even though conditions seemed perfect.
We did see this little sucker though.

Was very cool to watch him try and hood up, but very hard to get a photo of.

My best guesses at the moment are - Kreffts or Northern Crowned... I am going for the latter mostly. But both apparently (by the Wildlife of TNQ) appear to be spread throughout the tropics of Qld!

I will post my pics when I get home :)

If you're doing the Cairns trip easter then this will be one place we might get to visit!

From looking in my book it looks identical to the northern dwarf crowned snake (cacophis churchilli) found local to your area. According to Wilson, A field Guide to reptlies of Qld, Krefftii is located more central coast and downwards.:D I love the identification game!!!!:D

Nice shots!!!

The same snake different camera

Here's the same snake - which we appear to agree as northern crowned snake...

Heaps of fun herping here!

We also saw a small eyed snake (but no photo to prove it :( ), plenty of frogs etc...

Sorry about the blurryness of the pics... didn't have the right lens with me :( but the idea was good!
