Hi every body,I took my 2.5 year old jungle python out for a slither in the yard:) and I could hear him breathing with a little bit af a whistle, now he is back in his encloser I can't hear him breath any more is this something to be worried about.

I live In Townsville north Queensland so temp is not an issue.

Any advice would be fantastic.

It may just be a loose scale or it may be RI (respiratory Infection) keep him at a steady temp and see if it improves.

Many keepers have said that their carpet pythons do this, of varying sub species. It could be a respiratory problem (look for discharge around the nostrils) or it could be that it was slightly hissing while excited being out of its cage. Most keepers I spoke to about this said their specimens were seemingly healthy (eating, shedding, basking, breeding, etc) so were not concerned that their was a problem. They do just let out a little hiss, but audible wheezing or struggled breathing is a vet thing.
