These are a few tips to help prevent the escape of your pet and if it has escaped, the return.
- Microchip your pet reptile, we scan all reptiles that come in when they get a vet check.
- Report it lost with DSE
- Never leave pet reptiles unattended when giving then sun basking sessions, reptiles are very quick when they need to be and very good at hiding and often will be gone if you’re not keeping an eye on them.
- Make sure your enclosure is escape proof; old or loose air vents and sliding doors are the most common cause of escape. Always double or triple check you have closed and latched the enclosure.
- If you have lost a pet reptile check the surrounding areas very thoroughly; under couches, in and behind book shelves, behind the TV e.c.t. Also re-check the enclosure as reptiles may find small gaps in cage furniture to hide in or even in the lighting fixtures.
- Drop leaflets in the surrounding houses notifying them that you have lost your friendly pet reptile and they should contact you if they see it.
If you have not found the reptile within 12 hours please notify us, we will take down your details and the species lost and let you know immediately if we do find it. You can also check her on the Aussie Python Forum as we post lost reptiles up regularly

I am sure (sadly) that reps escape/get lost in Queensland. Does anyone know if there is a service such as this up here?

Most reptiles that ppl keep are already found in QLD,and those that escape in Qld thrive and u never see them again or they get eaten by other animals, since we are so rich with wildlife..unlike victoria :p..JKz.....unless u get them micro chipped i guess.... but like if u loose a coastal carpet up here or a spotted...and its not chipped..GOODLUCK!!..u'll have to go thru the hundreds of wild ones we got here first.. :p ..in Vic if u come across a coastal or a black headed python or a mertens water monitor u definatly know its sum1's pet.

lost reptiles..so why iz there a lost reptile centre to call there and not in Qld????...and iam saying in anotherway now...e.g if u loose a Olive python....it escapes....its going to stay where its warmer, and thats near human habitation, inside houses, factory's etc..hence will probably be seen by sum1...if it got loose in the VIC bush,it will almost certainly die that winter..then u wont find it ;) if a olive got loose in brizzy, its warm so the olive can comfertably find a place in near bushland away from humans if it whanted to and thrive......most ppl but not all, like to keep the warmer climate species,so when they escape they are "normaly" found near human habitation...well thats my Theory! ahahaha...if iam wrong iam wrong..but sounds logical..Lol
