Hi everyone, this is Mat and Corrina. We are wanting to get a pet and are looking at the Barking Gecko but are completley new to it. We are doing research via google and stumbled across this site.... the info we have collected from here has been awesome! :D We are interested to hear more about the Thick-tailed Gecko, so anyone with advice for a couple of noobs will be greatly appretiated! Also if anyone feels there is a better reptile for begininers please let us know!

hey there im lana
geckos are great and adorable little creatures but another good lizard to start with is a bearded dragon, a blue tounge, or a shingleback, i think there has been quite a few gecko sales lately on here if u go to the sales board u can see what has been up lately, good luck with ur new pets

Hi Mat & Corrina,

Barking geckos are great first geckos - they don't require specialist care and are relatively hardy.

Cheers,
PP

Barking Geckos, otherwise called Thick-tailed Geckos (Underwoodisaurus milii) are an absolute perfect beginners gecko. They are very attractive, grow to a medium size, easy to keep and dead easy to breed (rabbits of the gecko world). Kept simply in adequate sized Aquariums (Pair or Trio in a 2foot), sand substrate and hides. Feed on insects and your done basically. They're also fairly cheap.

Search through some of the older threads and you'll uncover billions of photos and heaps of info on them.

Good Luck!
