Average-Max lengths required for Ocellate Ridge Tailed monitors, Pygmy Mulgas, Sand, black tailed monitors, and adequate indoor (as I live in Newie) cage sizes needed for each.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Jay

Jay,

Ridge-tailed Monitors...Varanus acanthurus
Avg length: 60-78cm
Cage size: 6x2x2ft for adult pair or trio

Pygmy Mulga Monitors...Varanus gilleni
Avg length: 34-40cm
Cage size: 3x2x2 or 4x2x2ft for adult pair or trio...more height may be appreciated

Sand Monitors...Varanus gouldii
Avg length: 1.3-1.6m
Cage size: 6x2x2 minimum for one adult...realistically more would be appreciated. Could be housed outdoors in Newcastle if care was taken in the design and supplemental outdoor heating was supplied

Black-headed Monitor...Varanus tristis
Avg length: 60-80cm
Cage size: 6x2x2ft for adult pair or trio...more height would be appreciated for trio probably.

These are all what I would consider decent enclosures Jay. Many people would have bred these animals in smaller enclosures...it's all preference.

I should have some hatchling Black-headed Monitors available around February if you're interested...I'm also in Newcastle. If you need any help or advice just give me a yell. I'll help if I can.

ha simon how much for one?
you can email me if u want
Ditto. I am designing some new enclosures, and looking into some monitors. That's if I don't pull my finger out to pick up some elapids. But then again, I'm going to have enough tanks for both.
Does anyone know anyone with Red Bellies or Colletts bredding this season?

I'm planning on selling between $200-$300 depending on how many are available from other people at the time. I think $250 would probably a reasonable price.

I know someone who has a Redbelly that may be gravid. He also has colletts but I dunno if he is breeding them. I saw his Bluebellies mating so he just might have some of them too if you are interested.

Cheers Greebs and Simon. Please keep me informed as I'm intterestedin both.

Yeah the blackheaded's sound tempting, but ill have to wait to see how my finance and spacial situation is early next year.lol
