The news does a bloody good job of that themselves. I don't believe Terri has "americanised" (What a bloody stupid term) Australia Zoo, rather we have by gobbling up all the goss about it.

SIGNED!

what is with the tiger that jumps through the hoop there?

bugger 'em. They only want help when something affecting them is in trouble. The Mary River Turtle issue is in their back yard and they don't care.

I was all for Steve and his efforts when he was alive but now the yank is just interested in commercialising. When they show some true conservation efforts (like saving the Mary River Turtle) I'll re-evaluate my opinion.

ditto

The mining company is wanting to do an environmental study on a miserable 15% of this land.
What's the problem ???

what is the great cause, please. or is it steve irwin's name is attached to it, so it must be great. signing petitions like a mob, just decreases the validity of all petitions. i'm yet to be convinced that the large amounts of land purchased by the irwins have any conservation value at all. it's lovely to say you have set aside land for conservation, but it was all bought ad hoc, mainly cause it was cheap. there were no acquisition plans or research done. so why is it a great cause? what species are we saving. they bought land so as not to pay tax (their adviser was gaoled last week for two years for his dodgy dealings and advice) with no environmental assessment for any site done prior to acquisition.

it may turn out to be a valuable conservation site, but please, tell me what the great cause is, because if it is just because irwin's name is on it, i say dig it up!

Any bit of lans we can save is a great cause! and there would be wildlife in this pocket of land which needs their homes to be saved, or do you think that its its barren of any life? Every year needless amounts of land are cleared for our use! if we can manage to svae some then its worth while. If we all had an attitude like this there will be no natural areas left for our kids, kids to do herping and feild research like we have the privlage of doing. I hope for years to come there are people who fight for our land and animals and that we never get as bad as some other countries that have all but wipped out there beautiful land for human development!

I just want to add that it is not because it has the irwins name!!!! it is because it has steves!!!! he has done more that your likely to do even if you manage to live to 100!

the dam is going ahead rams as much as it gives us all the s.h.i.t.z , i cant see why Brisbane residents cant put in water tanks and use that, we out in the bush use tanks not all of us have bores and if our gardens die due to bloody drought stiff we are very water conscience recycle our washing water 2 min showers and drive dirty cars ....not having a go at anyone personally but water restrictions in Brisbane are a joke come take alook at a place that is on level 7 and see what the water restrictions are like....

I grew up on a farm that did not have town water, we lived on our dam water and let me tell you how horrible it can get in dought when you down to the last parts of (muddy) water. Even on water restrictions they have it better than most farmers and rural people.
Im with you on that redbellybite
