Looks great Jonno! I might have to make a booking with you and fly up to Brissy one day :D I'm keen to get the Victorian relocators paperwork (whatever it's called) as I'm sure my surrounding areas go nuts with snakes coming into domestic situations.

Thanks Jonno,

could well be interested in attending the course in March.

Will contact you

-Brent

hey Jonno, Dean and I would be interested in the march course as well. (won't be here next weekend :() keep me updated, I have already added a note in my shiny new 2008 diary. Look forward to maybe seeing you there Bung-Eye and moosenoose :D

cheers
-Penny

Thats not fair, we didn't get to catch a taipan. We were taught to tail vens in one day. It seemed easy enough once I got over the anxiety of it. this course I did in Sydney was my first ever encounter with vens at all.

All the same, maybe it would be worth learning your way, too, incase we come across one that is not going co-operate and let me catch it.

A few more pics....

A few more pics from that weekend. I can highly recommend this course, and Jonno and Sharna for those interested in doing something like this. It was a great weekend with a good bunch of people. Many of the myths about these critters were busted and the hands on experience was invaluable.

:D

Love the glow in the eye of the snake behind too :)

Hi Jonno, thanks for sharing all the pics and info...

I'm really interested in attending one of your courses, hopefully next March. But I am very curious to know how this course certificate aids in obtaining a venomous licence with the Qld Parks & Wildlife?

I do know that you need 2 references from experienced ven's keeper's, but unfortunately I've been told from one very experienced keeper/friend and remover of venomous snakes that I would have to prove myself to him for the next 2 years in handling venomous before he would go as a referee. I can totally understand his reasons for this, and as sensible as I am and am willing to learn everything about venomous, including my own experience with a range of pythons, I am still at an end as to how I am going to obtain a venomous licence without these two references? Perhaps you can shed some more light on this for me so I can start myself on the right track at obtaining my ven's licence?

Thanks Jonno...

G'day blackghost,

The course depicted in this post is strictly related to the capture and relocation of wild venomous snakes. In other ****s, we only supply references for getting your Damage Mitigation Permit, not your Specialist Recreational Keepers Permit. Once you have completed the relocation course, you are able to move on to the second course.

Once you have completed the second course, which covers husbandry related handling, we will supply you with two references. We should be doing one of these husbandry courses in April.

I can totally understand your friends reasons for not giving you a reference. Before we started ERD, I have only ever given out one reference, and that was to Sdaji.

Cheers

Jonno, will you be running any courses between may and september? I would love to do one but due to season festivities will not be able to afford to join this weeks course and i will be travelling around march so not sure i can make that one.

G'day channi,

We will be working out our calender for the 2nd half of 2008 soon. We will advertise the courses once we know the exact dates.

Thanks

hi jonno my name is ryan and i am only 14yrs old but i am turning 15 next june. i have not had any expierience with any venomous snakes except for moving a eastern brown off a path on a bush walk up at malaney. Ever since i was a little kid i have dreamed to be a herpetoligist but to get there i have to do tafe, university and as many courses i can do to help me get the career that i have dreamed for. i guess what i am asking is if i am old enough, what course and how many couses are there. and i would also like to learn some new facts that i dont know. thank you for your time.

Would love to attend one of your course's any chance there will be one near sydney or the central coast
if so can you please post

The links for the venomous course are not working.

Cheers,

Sienna

Really keen to do the course - any chance of it coming to Melbourne? We get a fair few vens in my area (Kew mostly) because of the Yarra River that runs right by my house and through the area, and a lot of native park area.

There have been snakes in the park before, and they always get shovelled.

Hey Jonno

Course sounds too easy if all the attendies are all having a great time and enjoying them selves;). Have you given them the wild brown under a washing machine or in a car engine test yet?;).

Course sounds great tho.

Cheers Dee
