hello,

Ive got a spotted hatchy which is in a 60x30cm enclosure the hatchy isnt eating and i was wondering if it would be stress.

The breeder that i got the hatchy from said get a hermit crab cage from the pet store but wont the plastic burn from the heating mat?

Thank you for your replys.

[HELP][/HELP]The heat pad should be controlled by a thermostat and shouldn't be reaching temps any higher than 35 degrees max. So presuming you're using a thermostat, no it won't melt the plastic.

As for stress, yes it's quite likey. Stress and low temps are the two main reasons a hatchy will stop feeding.

As MrBredli said, a heat mat or heat cord controlled by a thermostat should never melt the plastic. Only put it under one third of the container (or "click clack") and don't put it on the inside of the container. Young snakes in particular get scared and stressed easily in large enclosures.

it doesnt have a thermostat that controls the heat mat but on the floor of the glass enclosure where the heat mat is its 32-33 c
