Hots haven't exactly got a huge customer base. Most Hots are fairly cheap compared to Pythons although we do have some rather expensive ones. But on the whole, due to Hots being a "specialist " animal they are not sort after like pythons, they don't make ideal beginner snakes and you aren't about to buy little Billy a Taipan for his 10th birthday.
But on the other hand, IMO hots are a lot better than pythons :D

is there anything you can wear to protect yourself from a rbbs bite that is suitable. not including a steel suit :D

...Well you can wear whatever you like or whatever brings out your eyes ;)

I am looking for one if ur mate wants to sell??!!!

Although I have seen a couple going for around $150, the going rate (around Victoria at any rate) seems to be consistently between $50-$100. As mentioned earlier, most of the hots seem to hover between $50-$200, I would guess because with such a relatively small market, it makes no sense to price yourself out of it. I just missed an inland taipan being sold with a 4 foot enc & all furniture for $320not that long ago, so if you are ready to step up to vens, it's definitely a buyer's market. As I've mentioned on more than one forum in the past, the red -bellies are without doubt my favourite ven, & if I ever decided to get back into them would be my first choice, with probably a copperhead second. As to what to wear to avoid a strike, pretty much anything you like, as long as your choice of ensemble includes a steel hook! As you've probably already discovered with the pythons, if you keep herps, sooner or later you WILL be tagged, and freehandling a hot is probably the quickest way to hurry the experience along. Good luck with your RBB should you decide to buy it, & please post pics, as I never get enough of seeing these spectacular animals

Hmmm...If your friend has a category 2 license in order to keep a RBBS then he should also have a rough idea of what they are worth. He must of bought the snake in the first place...

earlier this year i organised for my mate to purchase some rbb.he got 3 for $60.
they were very young though.
personaly id pay up to a couple of hundred for a special specimen

juv rbbs go for around the 20-25 dollar mark, 100 bucks would be top dollar for an adult imo.

yeah he has a level 2 licence but once he got it he hasent realy followed the market. as to wether it goes up or down.

Thats ok, i dont mind travelling there as i have relatives in vic.

sorry i meant what could you wear to actually stop the bite going through :D
at first (jem) my mate would just milk it and then free hand but now he just cant get all the venum out so doesnt bother.
he wants to go back to been able to handling again.
anyway ill have a chat to him tell him what u guys/girls said and see if his going to sell for sure.
