Yeah Ads one of the very few exceptions, but the rest...... well.!!!!
Lets face it you have to be a bit strange to want to live in Brisbane when you have paradise and good waves on parts of both the Gold and Sunshine coasts, mainly the sunshine coast, the goldie is a hole these days, and has been for a while.

Brisbane was built as the result of a rift over the planning of the City.
Ipswich was intended to be the site, thus the wide streets and gridded town centre. there was a split.
Either way, both parties were obviously affected by the heat and humidity. As Rob stated(and Im sure he knows because Im assuming he has lived there himself as have I)"Lets face it you have to be a bit strange to want to live in Brisbane when you have paradise and good waves on parts of both the Gold and Sunshine coasts, mainly the sunshine coast"

Na luckly Ive never had the dis-pleasure of living there, but visiting and occasionally staying over was more than enough to put me off the place for life. Hell before the gate way bridge was built you couldnt drive the same way thru Brisbane because of the one way streets so traveling from the goldie to the sunshine coast and back again was a mission.

I am sorry, but I reckon NSW has the best laws.
Like Jeff said, you can keep anything except crocodiles and marine turtles as long as you have the right licence. ie class 1. class 2 etc
To my knowledge (I'm sure that you will all correct me if I am wrong!!) there are quite a few species that cannot be kept in QLD!
So NSW rules!!!!!!

There's still some nice parts, away from the tourists. You just have to know where.

:p

Hix

Well we definitely agree there, the Gold Coast is just for tourists but the Sunshine Coast is OK. I wouldn't live in Brisbane either, it's getting too expensive and crowded, I much prefer where we are.

thanks for all the replys and offers of help, be careful though, as i may just accept all of them !
comming over to forgien lands can be a bit nerve racking, esp when i'll know hardly anyone (if you get a free woma ill book my ticket right now! :p ) Ill be landing in perth & staying with relations for the first 2 weeks (to try & aclimatise to the better weather !!) then ill be traveling via motorcycle along the south to adilaide, sydney & up to queens, i have allowed myself 3 months to do all of this ! then i have to knuckle down and work! :( (cant come over without traveling the contry to see & photograph the wildlife first ! ) I am a plumber by trade, but im thinking of changing jobs, ive worked in wildlife parks and aquariums, & i used to have my own reptile/aquatic shop, so with that experince in mind, i might start looking into possible work in those lines too ! so i spose i could end up anywhere in the end (ive heard theres an excellent large public aquarium in perth)
africancichlid which do you keep ? malawi , tanganyikan or victorian ?
Its also funny you should peps should mention brisbane though, as one of my friends at the wildlife park apperanty knows a keeper at steve irwins place & i was thinking of enquiring about work there. Its nice to know ill have a bit of socialising when i get there.....eventually ! just cant wait to feel the sun (something we dont get much of here and im trying to ignore that fact its persisting down with rain & a force gale wind as i write this !) good news from this post though !! i can keep reptiles in aus ! :D i have had to sell 99% of my reptiles, but its nice to know that i can replace it when i move ! and with higher quality herps than i can get here, allready thinking of hypo bredli, blackheads, womas, knob tails (ill need a big house!)
thanks again guy/gals for the info.

garthnfay, thats only on a recreational licence, a specialist licence holder can keep any thing as long as it is legally obtained, even crocs I belive, if you can prove that they will be looked after and accomidated propally.
Hix, yes but few and far beween, and getting from there to anywhere......well you may as well live in brisbane.
Boa, you DO live in brisbane.
moreliaman, hope your move goes nice and smoothly for you, dont forget to check out north QLD.

Same as, thats still brisbane in my books.

hahaha, Well correct me if Im wrong but you live 2km from Ad, and even he admits he lives in brisbane. Hell even Ipswich is just a large suburb south west of brisbane to me. Even the goldie, I remeber not that long ago there was a fair bit of bushland bettween bris and the goldie, not any more is just one big crime ridden mass. Progress eh.

I have no control over where Adam says he lives. A big crime ridden mass

That's what I've been trying to tell everyone :p , Boa, I assumed you were in Brisbane, you in Redland Bay or something?

oh BTW, no exotics in any of the states. Blanket Federal law.

i thought you had cornsnakes there ? do you have any other exotics apart from australian stuff ?

There are many 1000's of exotics in the country, name a species and it's here but only a limited number of people in NSW and Victoria are licensed to keep them. The license doesn't allow them to breed or trade so the huge majority of people with them keep them illegally.
