Hi everyone,
I have been thinking lately how much i would love to get another dog because i have one and wouldnt mind getting him a friend

I am not too sure about what breed i would like to get, i just thought id ask everyone what there opinions are on favourite dog breeds etc

I like most dogs, i saw a boxer the other day and i wouldnt mind one but i dont have the yard for it right now, my partner and i are moving soon but i still think a smaller breed would be best for us i have also thought about staffys or even a pug i love begals too!

well post away and feel free to put pics up of ur dogs!

LOL you can get a mop dog. They are the cutest dogs ever.

haha asking a forum will give you many an opinion, which is great yet, can make the decision somewhat more difficult :p

But as you are indeed AFTER some opinions ;) and are looking at a smaller type of dog I would highly reccomend either a staff or mini BT, and yes if you like pugs they're cool too, but my choice would prob be a mini BT :D

Hope this helps
Cheers,

What size backyard will you have are are you willling to walk them everyday? Because staffies have crazy energy and need big walkies or a decent back yard. Also have alook at www.dogzonline.com.au and click on puppies, then a list will come up of all the different breed with puppies and most of the breeders have web pages so you can learn a bit about them.
I have an APBT and AMSTAFF but i really love min poodles they are the most amazing companion dog! mine would be with me 24/& if he could

Aw the mini bts would be great, the yard i have is small and yes i can walk them every day, but when we move we will have a big yard but still wanting a small dog would be best for us, poodles are funny little things theres an old man who comes in work with a 12 yr old one and it is the funniest looking little thing! i like cockerspaniels, i use to always want a cavalier king charles cockerspaniel, but i got told they seem to have alot of problems? i dont no if thats true or not but there was something i recal if it was going blind young or something like that? i might be wrong but i recal something being said along those lines, rebeccalg your begals are beautiful! they are real diggers arnt they? does anyone no any breeders in adel?

aw she is a cutie!!!
how old is she?? they get alot of hip problems dont they? i still think they are beautiful dogs! i would really like one but its a hard decision on what to get

Or a Min Pin, had one with my bf for a while, think he's still got him up in QLD, little "Draco"

They are cute, small, and are basically self exercising meaning they're daily run/play round the house and/or yard is sufficient to their needs.

Cons: they tend to "yap", as with most toy dog breeds.

I have one that digs on occasion.... I think he must follow a lunar cycle because every two months he is desperate to escape (he is desexed) the other one never digs... it requires too much energy for him. They are very lazy but love to go for a run and follow their noses. You have a big choice ahead of you. Check out the beagle club website, they have heaps of great info and all the registered breeders are listed there.

We've always had a couple of acres so I cant offer advice on the best urban dog except to keep it small. I guess match it up with what you already have size wise so they can play fairly. Is that your little fella in the avator? If so he is adorable! :D

One thing I wont be doing again when buying another dog is to get a puppy to keep an arthritic dog company. The old boy isn't too arthritic but the young fella is sooo boistrous around him that they almost never play anymore. The old fella gets quite grumpy with the pains from the sideswipes and play pushes from the young fella. Its also sad as the young fella just wants to run and play and he doesn't have someone his own age to do that with. No way I can run that fast! Used to ride around on the quad bike with him though. That was fun till the other half broke it doing wheelies.

Will also never get another dog with cattle dog in it. Love the cattle dogs but lets face it, they were bred to bark! Our old fella had a cattle dog mind and a rottweiller body, hence the two cruciate ligament operations and arthritis.

I dont believe anyone in town should get a dog with working dog in it unless they have a lot of time every day to commit to it. Look at the pound listings. They are full of cattle dogs and kelpies.

Something like what you already have would probably be really cool. They say two dogs are easier to keep then one as they keep each other company and exercise each other!

Pics of our boys. Ube the rotty / cattle old fella and Nugget the ridgeback / mastiff / bull arab young fella. In the first photo Nugget had just finished playing in the sullage pump out on a hot day.

Yes thay are great but need a fairly big yard and get pretty big, i think they are looking for a smaller breed! but amstaffs really are like humans lol

I used to breed and show Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and they don't have any health problems. They are great companions and love sitting in your lap. I bred them for many years. Just need to keep their ears clean from canker.

Then I went into Alaskan Malamutes but they need lots of exercise and a large area if you aren't living in Brisbane thats fine. I wouldn't advise getting one as they are a pack animal and you need to be confident to show them who is the boss (leader). I have had to come between two fighting females it was a jealousy thing over a male and also me!! Then another time it was a female and male fighting as they both wanted to be boss, the male was in another state for 12 mths and when he came back to me he tried to be the boss over my bitch but she wouldn't have it. I would love to still have them but not up here in Brisbane and am not able to walk them anymore.

Boxer if you have the space or Jack Russell if you have the mental capacity :)
