Hi,
I have a hard time making friends becasue i LOVE herps! lol. Today's high school girls are much more interested in makeup, shoes and shopping, i on the other hand would rather spend my time at the local herp supply store cleaning out cages, then spending money on things i'd probally only wear once. Becasue of my weird like behaviour, i've been forced to hang wit the boys, at least they don't mind me taking them up to see the snake in the science lab! Any of you female herp lovers had a hard time fitting in?

Hanging out with the boys isn't so bad. My girlfriend used to hangout with guys all the time but she naturally started getting more girly with time. Plus some guys (like me) like low maintenance chicks, especialy low maintenance chicks who like herps. Don't stress, high school sucks for everyone, at least you have a good outlet.

I had a hard time at school making friends not because of my fondness to reptiles more so the fact that i was hidiously ugly.

Now i still have trouble making friends 1. because im still hdiously ugly and 2 because i have the swine.

I also have trouble making friends at school because i like herps, though im not a girl so perhaps the other girls think that its wierd to like a lizard or snake, because even though it would fit in their hand bag its not fluffly enough!!! I wish there were more girls who liked herps it would be so much easier to go out with someone who you shared a real passion with! Lady's if your free dont hesitate call REPTILEFAN95

You sound wonderful to me....don't change who you are because of other people, be true to yourself all your life. I'm 58 and trust me, lots of people my age think that I'm crazy or odd to love snakes too. They reckon I should be too "adult" for that....but hey, I love snakes and I don't care what anyone says.....follow your dream.

It sounds like you are trying to be friends with the wrong type of girls. There are always people who share your interests and quirks. It just takes some time to find them.

By the time you are ready to leave school, they will either get over it and accept you as you are, or you will go your own way and make a complete new circle of friends sharing similar interests. You'll be lucky if you see half these ppl once you finish school and move on with your own lives. So, live it up girl and say who cares, stuff them. Be yourself not what someone else thinks you should be.

If they don't like you for who you r or your interests, they don't sound like the sort of girls you want to hang out with anyway. Besides there most likely jelous that all the boys like to hang with you. Keep ur chin up life only gets bigger and better.

Bah, all the friends you make at highschool dont talk to you once yous all leave anyways, so best off being yourself rather than going with the stereotypes and being obsessed with shoes n clothes etc.
As for abnormal... What is normal?????

I really hope my boy is left out of the popular group at school, hopefully that will keep him away from doing drugs and wearing pink and bling. I might even encourage him to be a nerd

i think there are alot of positives keeping reptiles one is your certainly less likely to judge others for being "weird". If anything keeping reptiles will help build u as a person and help u later in life, at school i was in the average group although i never talked about my herpes that much although my mates knew i kept them. (not the quantity ) not so much as i was worried about being judged just it never exactly came up. but i certainly was much more understanding about other people compared to my mates lol. Now 6months after finishing school i only really see 2 or 3 of my closest mates compared to my 15 or so "friends" at school ..... so wot others have said i wouldnt be worried.

all the way through high school i was looked as abnomal people who know me know im abnormal
take this for once i wanted to see what it would be like too see what life was like from my water dragons perspective so i striped down and stated eating crickets and meals worms to my girlfriends disgust
tasted horible dont see what the silly lizard seen in them
also i wonder what rat tasted like once never again
oh and going into the bush behind my school and returning with a 6ft diamond python desperatly trying to strangle and eat my face
man high school was awesome best 6 years of my life now lifes crap and all i do play with rats play with snakes and work on a fishing trawler

people look at me and on first impressions think im the biggest "girlie girl" in the world, nails, hair, heels the works, oh wow r they wrong, i want to go fishing LOL
hasnt impacted my ability to have friends, if people think your weird for having something enjoyable in your life, there not worth being in your life!

I never fitted in with the girls at school, all my mates were guys and I loved doing guy things. Hated dresses and make up and all things girly. Got bullied at school. For 3 years solid I got bullied by this one chick till I lost it, blew up and belted the crap out of her..from then on people either wanted to be my friend or steered clear of me. I steered clear of all of them, because I knew the ones that wanted to be friends were plastic. The guys that were friends were the best, they were down to earth, honest, didnt bitch and told it like it was. All along until I was 14 I didnt know it but I was gay, I liked chicks, I then came out..since then I question what IS normal and what IS abnormal??? This whole world is wierd, not to mention all the people in it..dont sweat it kid, you will be just fine. Your real the real deal, not plastic like most kids these days.

P.S I dont encourage anyone to beat anyone up. That was wrong what I did and I regret that it couldnt have been worked out more amicably.
