Airports

Any airport that takes the larger aircraft like the A320 or the 737-800's etc are not classed ar regional.

Cairns, Coolongatta, Launceston, Coffs Harbour etc etc are in other words o'k.

As far as Im aware AAE use other airlines besides Qantas.I know that Sunstate Airlines fly from Bris to Mackay and they also carry reptiles.

Another thing to note that it is NOT AAE who set these so called policies but the airlines themselves.

It is qantas thats is doing it and there was no warning. Pretty much all regional areas lose out. Funny that you can still freight cats and dogs though.

You should be able to get reptiles onto flights from Brisbane to Gladstone as some of them are Sunstate Airlines flights.Unless of course Sunstate has had a change of policy.

I stand corrected

Coffs has been a no go for ages now.lozza is correct.

I must be out of touch with things since leaving Virgin Blue. I tried to get things changed when I was there but IMO it is the fact that people are ignorant whne it comes to reptiles. Some things never change.

you could try fastway couriers -I was told they will take stuff (geckos- dont know about snakes tho:? )

AAE website

Have a gon on the AAE website and see what there policies are and where they transport to and what they are willing to transport.

just curious as to freighting geckos are they still unable to come to mackay if someone was to be on the flight with the gex.

People, ring Barnetts,, they freight up and down the east coast, competitive price and really look after the babies you send. The Canberra/Hume fellas at the depot love it when a snake comes in... Rule is,,, you have to show them before you leave the shed hahaha!

Just rang Barnetts 131453, more than happy to freight reptiles up and down the east coast. From Sunshine coast south they will personally pick up and deliver (their drop off depot is on the Gold Coast). North of Sunshine coast they use other companies to on forward stock so its up to them if they wish to carry reptiles. Very pleasant to talk to. Can book online or by phoning that number. Thanks cmclean for that tip.

i freighted from Bundaberg to Melb airport a few weeks ago, got several different quotes initially, it ended up costing me $150 for an adult snake (6kg). I wont be freighting again at all, the rules and costs change depending who you talk to.

will be looking into Barnetts if it is necessary to move an animal again, thanks for the heads up about them.

I just spoke to AAE. There is a meeting today between AAE and Quantaslink. Apparently this has all come about due to an interpretation of wording by a quantaslink pencil pusher. They are hoping to have it all clarified in this meeting and will let me know tonight.

I was at Aae in Sydney a few weeks ago waiting on a Jungle which wasn't on the flight it was supposed to be (surprise, suprise) while anxiously waiting for the next flight i was told we won't have to worry about it for much longer as Jet Star will be taking over Qantas domestic flights in Aus & they won't be freighting any animals including reptiles. So until then i guess we have to put up with the wonderful service of Aae!!

There is definately no consistancy with AAE. Things change massively depending on who you talk to.
