just been looking at the herp shop and noticed a course advertised from a instructor raymond hoser. i already have a restricted licence to keep vens and aslo have a demagde mitigation permit to capture and relocate reps but im always keen to learn new things.Has any one attented his course or dose any one have any knowledge of whats involved in his courses.?
thanks steve.

Rays elapids have been mutilated to render them incapable of inflicting a lethal bite.
This is done without the assistance of a vet or anesthetic. He still performs this operation contrary to his claims otherwise. As his snakes die he replaces them with new venomoids.
He is though a wealth of information.
Ray also does childrens parties, a bit like that vid of the baby with the cobra really.

thats not a good look for the poor snakes how could some one be aloud to do that.
also dont venomous snakes use there venom that contains protiens to help brake down there food for digestion. im not to judge some one of there profesion but that dosent seem right to me but thats just my opinion.
thanks for that i dont aprove of it or would support it.

with a bit more prodding this thread has real potential as another ray hoser bash. I would be very surprised if somebody who keeps vens and has any sort of venemous related permits has never heard of ray hoser already.

wow raymond bashers lol

funny how things are, when Raymond Hoser is always the face of venomous snakes how many times you see him on commerical news broadcasts and other media facets warning of the dangers of being the hero by killing the killer elapid, and what to if you find a snake.

Im not touching this with a ten foot pole.........;)

donk

A course designed to teach people how to handle venomoids :?

I thought everyone knew the best way to do that.Take a handful of previously venomous species, just select according to pattern and colour and then drape them over your shoulders, easy as. :(

Time for a stir......

Not saying what Raymond Hoser does is right, but in a way I can see why he does it to minimise the risk of potentially losing a life if someone does get tagged during training to better prepare one for a real life situation.

A bit like filming and action scene in a 'shoot 'em up' movie and using live rounds instead of blanks, just pray you don't get hit. Wouldn't that be fun?!

Again, just stirring the pot! ;o)

While every one is entitled to their own oppinion on venomoids.
The training course is not about venomoids.
Yes you will be handling venomoids to learn various aspects of handling snakes.
That is only part of a well put together training schedule that offers an excellent insight on how to minimise any risk to the snake or your self when out handling snakes in the wild.
If you do decide to attend Raymonds course I personally believe you will not be disappointed as he is one of the most knowledgible and helpful persons you will find when it comes to information on snakes.

totally back up snakesrule.
The person was asking if anyone had attended this course, keep to the topic.

Nothing against Raymond (well, okay there is a few things) but this course seems to fly in the direction of everything he tries to stand in the way of when he speaks to the media! What is it Raymond, leave the snakes alone or touch the snakes? Oh but hang on I keep forgetting that there is cash involved in it this time, so that must make it alright! :?

But on the thread, who knows?? Considering his experience I'm sure you'd learn something of value, whether it's 300 bucks worth, that'll be the chance you'll take.

I've done a Reptile Husbandry course with Snakehandler and was very happy with what I learnt from them. They are Victoria based but I know they travel to other states. I did my course in Brisbane.

He asked whats involved and venomoids are involved. Its totally on topic.

Personally I'm somewhat taken aback that the Herp trader would run such an ad but then again perhaps Im not.

I can't see any Snake Handler courses advertised on HerpTrader and can't recall any recently either.

Are you sure it wasn't RDU cos Ray did advertise there and had a big speel that was far to long to read in the last week or two.

Thought the same thing as well.Out of principle I would bar him from being able to advertise,so either herptrader agrees with his practises or does not care where advertising fees come from.

Mmmm, sure i saw it advertised on the herp trader a few days ago too. Maybe it was pulled by the sites admin.

Get a life. Gonna be fun when your learning to handle vens and get bitten, id rather avoid the loss of life or extreme sickness. Many other things do more damage (i.e. the pet industry!) So do you wanna be paid out for keeping animals? Think about it
