My young coastal carpet python is growing rapidly and I am thinking it will soon be time to move him to a bigger enclosure, I have an aquarium I got given to me for free, I have read aquariums aren't preferred for snakes because they don't keep heat in, but I was wondering if there were anyway I could still put the aquarium too use for my coastal, as I have no interest in keeping fish and it would be a shame for the tank too go to waste. Maybe build something onto it so that it will keep heat in? Any suggestions? Or should I go and look at some proper reptile enclosures or think about constructing my own? Either way I don't mind, just want what is best for the animal.

Thanks ")

Could always try insulating it with some medium-high density foam, creating some fake rock walls out of them is a good way to disguise them. Getting a pine top aquarium style lid can also help with retaining heat and looks nice, they are usually pre made in standard tank sizes too and easy to find at most aquariums for around $100 or so...

How big is the enclosure?
You could line the inside with melamite from bunnings. I did that for my first Beardie tank.
The pine top is a good idea. I have built pine tops for 2 of my enclosures.
