Name that snake

Have you any idea what this could be?

Mostly grey-green with a red-brown section near the head. Thin and dainty-looking, about 3ft long. It appeared in my back yard this afternoon. I live in Mullumbimby, Northern NSW.
I'd be grateful for any ideas.
