What a lovely yellow tummy on the water, do they all have that? :)

instar - waters come in two types generally

long and very yellow

short and more creamy

one is a nt, one is a qld, im not sure which is which, i keep both, the other is short fat, and has almost no yellow on it's belly at all, looks like a black olive :D

spencer is about 30cm total length, and is still a juvi (under 6 months)

Inny, they range from cream to yellow to orange. Some of mine:

As you can see from the last one, they can be such sweethearts. Even when removing her eggs she wasn't in the slightest bit angry, although she was looking at me as if to say "Why are you stealing my babies? I spent all year making them, you did this last year, you're doing it again, I thought you loved me, why do you want to kill my babies? "

They're due to hatch any day now, I'll show her the babies, but I'm sure she won't care :p

here are some of my macs,

and another of my female water,

i'd take a pic of the male, but i seem to lose digits everytime i put a my hand near him.

hey sdaji, see that photo "stimoni female" - does she look gravid to you? he had been shacked up with male over cooling, and is about to shed, she has been feeding, but not for a while, and now she looks fat, she may be retaining food, but i got my fingers crossed.

big waters sdaji, my male is that big, but he's much older than the female, she bred last year though, had 17 eggs, she must of been pretty fat (i bought her after she laid)

ARGHHHH sadji do all water pythons get THAT big ?????
mine are nasty ba$*@&)$!!!!
what did i let tony talk me into

Important to get ones which have friendly parents! Quality is important with all species, water pythons are no exception. With proper socialisation with people (and that doesn't just mean "handling enough", the type of handling and an understanding of snake psychology is important) you may be able to tame your nasty one... maybe... Good luck! They're gorgeous snakes, I hope you manage to get yours to the point where you can appreciate it up close, even when they get nice and big :)

i appreciate them up close... just through the glass
they do settle once out of the enclosure but they are certianly not may fave as far as temprement goes, the bredli and diamonds get that award.

Here is Aimy, my favourite water python, and by far, my favourite snake. I've had her since she was a few days old and she has never bitten anyone :) I absolutely adore her, and she puts up with me, even thought I steal all her eggs!

awwww she looks so friendly. ill send mine around for some special sdaji therapy :D no way id let mine that close to my face

Hehe, nah, you don't want to do that, my answer to nasty snakes isn't generally patience and understanding, it's to avoid letting it anywhere near my collection, and if for some reason it was there, it would get ignored! I love my water pythons, they're tame and didn't need all the pampering etc. I've been through the taming snakes down thing with others (including bredli! eww!), but really don't care and can't be bothered these days if it's going to be any more than handling once or twice a month for one or two minutes and not even my water pythons get handled that much, as much as I'd love to have the time to play with them more. It's so much easier to choose nice snakes than to go the hard yards with nasty ones and as I plan to breed my animals, I find it extremely important to choose nice ones, as these traits are heritable.
