I agree there are many many benefits.. but if someone were to abduct someone and everyone had this chip (say in the hand) there are alot people out there that wouldnt mind chopping off a childs hand so they dont get caught...putting the child in even more risk..
there would be massive arguments about issues like these all we need is for people to get some sence knocked into them so they need not be chipped.. but i think we all know thats not going to happen... but teleporting sounds fun :shock:

Oh ooooh here we go again... LOL... if you read the previous posts you will notice we've covered this before... With technology these days, the chips would be tamper proof, and I'm sure they would be implanted either in multiple places, or deep inside the body. This would therefore eliminate any danger to the child because a dead child = no ransom etc... plus if you think about it, how quickly does a parent realise their child is missing... If reported straight away, the authorities would be right onto it and track the child down in no time before the abductors had enough time to transport the child, locate all the chips and remove them.

Laura, you have a very valid point there, I certainly wouldn' twant that to happen to a child, but there again, no system is infallible. if it helps only a few kids, at least thats a few more than there would be!!!!!!!

While it has its 'cons' there is also an positive side to it too. I work with potentially violent criminal offenders and it could make worl life alot easier. I'm not going to try to get into it right now. I'm too bloody tired.

when i was a kid i ran away from home once... and if i was chipped at that time lets say, i'd probably try to take it off somehow as i didnt want to be found. what would happen if a kid wants to run away but he's got a chip in himself? will he commit suicide because he didnt want to go home so bad ? or die trying to remove the chip? this can change the destiny of ones life because he has no chance to escape... escape from what ? well, life is crazy sometimes.... situations only some experience... but you get the drift...

reading this thread, the good points are great ! makes the world a safer place to be with more crime busting and helping the dead, helping the needy and so on.... abductions will be far less, kidnappers would get caught, the captured will be found....

but to be honest, if im still alive and have a chip installed inside of me, i will feel like a slave. feeling like someone is above me and looking down at me. feeling " owned " by someone else or some company or whatever is not my cup of tea.


i wouldnt want to be chipped, maybe because in this lifetime i dont have it, and i know that i dont need it, and i dont want it.

also if one day the government decides to go ahead with it and say " if you allow your babies to be chipped, we would give you $1000.00 " ) i wouldnt allow it, because i dont want my kids to be like " owned ". thats my point of view..... but.... if me kids grow up over the age of 18 and decides they want to be chipped, i wont stop them.

but for those that doesnt mind to be chipped, im happy for you, because the points are great, and would benefit you.

if one day my eyes goes blind and technology is there to make me a new robotic eye, and its only function is to allow me to see and nothing more, then hell YEAH ! ill get one !

but maybe it would be cool to be chipped. i will never know until the doors are opened

i totally agree with you, humans are their own worst enemy. i say lets go back to the 70s, life was more free and easy and people were friendly and caring. we didnt have the copy cat crimes from the BIG APPLE and the disrespect which is exhibited by many people in society today, we seem to live in a world that is becoming more self centered greedy and disrespect ful for fellow human beings. May be we should bring back the cane and parents should have the right to disapline their children, we took away the cane from schools and spared the rod at home, has it dont society any good??? i believe our society is becoming more violent with disregard for human life. As for being micro chiped no way there goes freedom i dont want to live in world like logans run, is that where we are headed?????

Mobiles can only be tracked to the nearest mobile phone aerial it is accessing at the time, and ONLY if the phone is turned on. You can only be pinpointed to a radius of several kilometres.

I once worked for a mobile phone service provider, on the mobile phone section. We had a guy ring us to ask us to try to find his daughter who had been missing for a few days, we couldn't help him, poor fellow. We advised him to go to the police, which he had already, so he went off to ask them, but in reality, they are even at a loss to pinpoint exactly where a person aactually is, and if the phone is turned off, there isn't a hope in heck of locating it.

Dragonfly, who would "own" you should you be carrying a chip that only has your information on it, not accessible except to authorised organisations with specialised scanners???

i believe it wouldnt be long for computer dudes to find the technology to invent / make their unique scanners. might comes in a form of a watch, one swipe and they'll know who you are.

and if a pervert has that device, scans a nice girl on a train, knows where she lives.... could be to the perverts advantage.

also other organisations can join in the fun, medicare could have a program to allow your family members details on your chip. then again the pervert will know who your family members are, and may do something about them.

i understand there are many benefits for it. but i dont trust strangers. and thats whats its about, strangers knowing you without you knowing them from the start. the chip can be taken advantaged of.

LOL I think alot of people are missing the idea of being chipped... It wouldn't be for the government to creat a list of who is in our country... It is to use in times of great need such as missing persons, murders etc... Plus could people read through the thread before they repeat the comments that have already been covered. This technology will be tamper proof... It will set of the same alarm bells to authorities if it is tampered with or fails. Therefore there will be no "fake identities". We've also established that you will never be able to force people to have this technology. It will be just like chipping pets today, just with a much more advanced chip... People will have the choice, parents will choose for their kids. In response to your comment Dragonfly, kids run away because they are angry or scared. They are never that desperate that they would risk killing themselves to get a chip out of their body. And just to humour you, if a child was that desperate to get away from their parents that they would go to the extremes of cutting out something deeply imbedded in their body, well dont you think they have a serious problem and NEED to be found anyway???! Think about it!

I remember a long while ago, watching fascinated as a SATELITE IN SPACE, honed in on a town, then onto a street, then a car, next a person, to the cigarette in the persons hand, and finally, inspected a HAIR ON THE BACK OF THE PERSON"S HAND...........................................howzat??????

Now, don't you think it's a bit silly worrying about carrying a bit of information around with you, it doesn't matter if you can be spotted via a chip form space, you are already being watched, VERY closely from up there.
