I find positive reinforcement helps, let it know that if it behaves you'll take it out to a nice dinner and a movie, things like that.

What kind of snake?
Generally a snake cannot be 'tamed' but you can aclimatise it to being less aggressive and more docile.
If they are snappy to handle, the best way to beat that is to be persistent. Continue to handle until it slowly figures out you're not a threat and there's nothing to fear.

That said some snakes are just bastards and will never settle.

How about some real details Jayden, ok so it's a Jungle... how old? How long have you had it? What type of behaviour are you trying to tame (striking at the glass or grabbing your finger and constricting it or tagging you in the face)? What is it housed in and where? Is it Slytherin00's 'snappy' jungle? Do you keep it in a drawer and brick it when it's naughty?

Sorry couldn't help slipping in a poke at Fulmer and Slytherin... My bad!

Ha ha, ++1 ;)

Being a Jungle it will be slightly more snappy than other snakes, unfortunate really. But I suggest as Badsville said just be persistent. Personally I found that if your a tad nervous of the bite your first handle perhaps use a glove that way its got use to its first sorta handle, then the second time just go bare hands, I found that worked for me, helped me get over the initial fear. If its a hatchy from my experience the bite won't hurt kinda felt like resting your hands on some biers.

Yeh? How'd that work out for you?

What works for me, is feed them like crazy for a month or 2 (like every 2-3 days) and handle for only 5-10 minutes every day.
Most snakes become very lazy when they're digesting, making handling for short periods much easier. After a month or 2 of this, they calm right down (mine did anyway).

Keep in mind that some snakes are just pricks and know matter how hard you try, they're never going to like you.

And how many days did you actually have you Jungle and how many times did you handle it give such sage advice?

The comments are not incorrect in and of themselves but it comes across as if you have extensive experience with the issue which is a bit rich. At the end of the day we still can't really give accurate advice as we don't know the details of the issues he is having with the snake and he may not be afraid of being tagged at all.

I wasn't stating I had extensive knowledge, I was simply offering tips which I found helped me, yes i do not have my Jungle anymore and I only handled it five times, however I thought the OP might find that tip useful, its completely up to him what he decides to do.

And as for the other comment, it worked out fine for me I was able to handle my former Jungle for brief periods. If your referring to my experience with National Parks for selling my snake before the six months, then in that case it was a $400 and officers had to inspect my current set up I have for a Childrens Python I will be getting.

Slytherin, I may take the pish out of you a bit and all but... That sucks! $400 out of pocket hurts bad! I thought they would give you a slap on the wrist and a probation period for any herps you might get.

A HUGE misconception that jungles are snappier than other snakes. (Ever tried looking after a scrubby!?)

Anyway, a juvenile of any type of snake is of course going to be fairly defensive, but if you're wanting to get it "tamed" as such, persistence is definitely the key. I've had my 2 jungle hatchlings for 5 weeks now and while they were both fairly snappy at first, my female far more so than my male, I made sure I handled them for at least 10 minutes every second day (third after feeding) and was very slow and patient with them. As it is I can now bring both of them out of their click clacks without needing a hook or to distract them and I haven't had either of them tag me for over a fortnight.

Floyd has JUST started to go opaque today so I won't be handling him until he has shed but Gemma used to tag me even when I wasn't moving and now I can handle her without any problems whatsoever.

If your jungle is the one in your avatar then you should have an easier time starting to handle it than say an adult snake so like most people have said, persist.

Best way for me is stick your in the cage get and get bit, eventually the snake will realize it does nothing and Will stop bitting, just play with it in it's enclosure to tell it it's not getting fed and also fed in a separate enclosure or shoe box or something. This tells the snake that it won't be getting fed in it's enclosure. Worked for my 3 jungle.

P.S Be patient it won't happen over night give it a month or so before you go letting someone else grap it

I would listen to them my 3 jungle tried to bit everything when I bought them, now they are puppy dog tame not sure about the fuss is about with jungles being aggressive.

Well Gruni it was quite expensive, I had to dip into my savings which hurt but at least it taught me a lesson and im glad there allowing me to get another snake. I've gotten in contact with the guy I was originally going to get a spotted off, he's got a 3yr old Childrens he's selling me on Monday, he said its temperament is ideal for people with little to no experience with snakes.

And Jayden sorry for hijacking for thread there for abit. But yeah listen to the other guys they know tons about this kinda stuff, and Rowie is a prime example of how you can clam down Jungles

hahahahaha sorry man but that just made me laugh so hard lol doesn't cut it , you actually got fined and inspected , did you dob yourself in ? cairns parks and wildlife officers must of been having a christmas party , did you explain it was only because it was because you couldn't handle it , id think they would have some sympathy that law is in place to stop people buying clutches then on selling in a few days for profit from my understanding

Do you reckon you might jump in and give that an edit so it's easier to understand without all the typos?

SORRY TOO was it the dumb clause ?
Not having a jungle yet! but a few others i think that the best advice already given is keep it well fed and just go into the enclosure and fiddle ( with the enclosure ) every day , keep away from the pointy end if it looks threatening . .
time and patience :)
