im looking for an allowed list of reptiles and licence classing in QLD i have looked but my search has proved fruitless.
could some one point me in the right direction.
thanks in advanced

You can keep any reptile in QLD, rare and venomous reptiles are on the specialist licence, crocs are on the Exhibitors licence, and evrything else is on the recreational. think that's everything, oh, and you can have it so your licence covers both birds and reptiles.

This is everything I can keep on a QLD Recreational wildlife licence. Hope it helps, (and makes sense!!)

 COMMERCIAL REPTILES

AGAMIDAE

central and inland bearded dragons.

SCINCIDAE

pink tongue lizard, eastern blue-tongued lizard, cunningham skinks.

CHELONIDAE

eastern snake-necked turtle, saw shelled turtle, krefft's river turtle, murray turtle.

GECKONIDAE

thick-tailed gecko, rough knob-tailed gecko.

BOIDAE

children's python, spotted python.

SPIDERS AND SCORPIONS

all protected spiders and scorpions.

 RECREATIONAL REPTILES OR AMPHIBIANS

all common reptiles not listed in restricted are recreational reptiles, and all common amphibians are recreational.

 RESTRICTED

ELAPDIDAE

black snakes, broad-headed snakes, brown snakes, collett's snake, copperheads, death adders, eastern small-eyed snake, rough scaled snake, taipans, tiger snakes.

only fresh waters mossey and you have to have a exhibitors licence

Oh and a recreational licence includes birds whether you like it or not as well.

To have the elapids you must do a venomous snake handlers course. Which upgrades your licence to a specialist license. So don't really know why they're on the list.

No, you just need 2 reccomendations. and they're on the list under 'restricted', so it makes sense to me.

Maybe they mean "reccomendations" by having two other special/venomous licenced people to give a written reference to the person applying? Sorta like they are vouching for the person wanting them? =^^=

You hit the nail on the head.

My recreational licence (QLD) says I can have anything on the list plus 2 "restricted" species (though I'm just happy to keep a spotted python and a pair of common eastern bluetongues)

To upgrade your licence to a specialist by recommendation you have to supply two written references from two herpetologists of proffessional standing. It is more difficult than you may think.

thanks so much for the info.. we are looking to move up QLD soon and wanted to get everything in order, will contact all the appropriate authorities when we set a date.
any hints on moving about 40 reptiles interstate????
