If anyone's curious, they are available here in the US and in Canada, but they're still pricey. The Canadian ones go for around $1000 (CN) each. I lucked out and got one for $400 here in the US. I'll be picking up a mate from a different breeder this summer for $600.

Besides the obvious legal reasons for being expensive, they only drop 3-5 eggs per clutch. So until the laws change such that they can be exported in VERY large numbers, they should remain fairly pricey over here.

I have seen hundreds of these animals over the years. They often get in the way while I am looking for snakes. I have never seen what all the fuss is about, but different strokes for different folks I guess.

Did someone mention the armadale mite research center ?
 
Guess Im different I quite like them!

each to there own, I wouldn't pay that much though thats for sure
