No Skeptic i have not been, was crook last 2 meetings but my Brother "Norm" and Nephew "Josh" keep me up to date on doings........................Ron

Shame a few other states dont seem to do this, or if they do they are done in closed circles and unless your in the know you dont hear about it. Ive been keeping here in Qld since '95 and never heard of it happening here.

kept in complete isolation and quarantine from your other reptiles. 13 mths min quarantine is the recommended time.
.

13 months eh !!!
I was hoping cuddles would be OUT of the bedroom sooner than that , its a little funny seeing cuddles during " special " cuddles

Are they the guy's with the snappy bredli? I'm not good with names :(

Snappy Bredli?.....Nah - that thing is just gawwjus!!

It is not snappy.....just misunderstood :p I keep telling Ron that he needs one of those lovely Bredli....One day he will listen to me and get one!

Maybe because we are that bit further away from the office in Coffs, they choose not to give us a try for ballot reptiles....

I'm confused :| I know a father and son duo that have a Bredli that they say is the devil incarnate, does that fit the bill?

I am actually thinking of making them an offer on the devil Bredli when my new enclosure is finished (when i finally start it) you might have said it is misunderstood with tongue in cheek Rob they bought it as a yearling and it was snappy from the start and only got worse coz Josh was afraid of it and did not handle it as much as he could have, if i can't get 1 from the Ballot i might make "Rocky" the bredli a project, at least i know the conditions it is kept in and know my brothers husbandry is as good as my own so won't have to wait for 13 months Quarantine time, besides it is a very pretty "Joe Blake"......................................Ron

Yes....it was said very much tongue in cheek!

He is a lovely snake, albeit a little feisty. You should get him - he will be good practice for when you get your Jungle :p (Again...tongue in cheek - Our Jungle girl is turning out to be a little angel. Love her to bits....)

I got a male gosford diamond this way. Just fathered another clutch of littlies for me. The most handlable snake Ive ever owned. Was a wild snake with severe head injuries after a dog attack. Ugly as sin but gorgeous!

I just picked up a beautiful little spotted on Friday from a ballot in Sydney. Handles like a dream, eats like a horse. I'm stoked. Quarantine is a must though. I was lucky with this one though. It had a little bit of history come with it.

I won a young diamond in a ballot about 2 years ago but they then changed the pick up day and I couldn't make it on the new day so they gave it to someone else! Man was I dirty! They stipulate that you must be available to collect on a certain day, between certain times, tell you you've won and check you can collect on the set day, then 15 minutes later change it. Never had a look in since.

Since found out where they came from, kicking myself I didn't put my name down as they were captive bred! As the likes of Skeptic, Ronhalling & Bart70 will know, just 30 Mins North of them is my little town, Kempsey and everyone knows everyone!

So a friend of a friend of a friend's boyfriend's brother (try saying that 5 times fast) had his house raided due to downloading 100gb of underage porn (some people disgust me!) and they police found his snakes weren't licensed, as it expired a year or so ago and he didn't renew it.

At the time didn't have a tank or anything prepared for an addition so said no, but wishing I had've figured something out

And everyone knows about Kempsey ;)

Funny you should mention....A work colleague today received a promotional brochure from a well respected motel chain advertising 'specials' around their chain......Sydney was nearly $400/night on special, whilst Hobart was $71. A comment was passed that times are tough when you can get a motel room in downtown Hobart for the same price as a room in Kempsey........

Now back on topic......Is a shame you didn't know their history beforehand - would have been a good outcome all round. I guess ballots can be a bit of a lucky dip though - but if you have the experience and patience to deal with a problem child should you get one they can be a good bet.

If I had of had a set up ready or even half done I would have hesitated but oh well what can you do? And yes everyone here on the mid north coast knows what kempseys like lol

I rescued a young spotted locally from the back of a shop owned by a friend. Not being native to this area, I contacted NPWS to find out the possibilities of keeping it. They said ballot is the standard way to go to make it less tempting for someone to nick a snake from the wild in another area and say, "Oh, look what I rescued. Can I keep it?".

As a result, it went to ballot with me being allowed to care for it for those couple of weeks. Emails were sent out to local registered snake owners asking for expressions of interest. I know some received the email, but others didn't. In the end, I was awarded it. A beautiful snake but is still a bit moody. He's small enough that I don't mind being bitten (twice this evening), but I still don't let him near my face.
