1: I have an enclosure that has a built in heat mat connected to a thermostat I will be keeping a spotted python in a click clack on top of the heat mat and was wondering what temperature do I set the heat mat on so that the python gets the proper heat it needs, but doesn't get burned.

2: my heat matt is built in and cannot be taking out so when my python is older will it be ok if I use a heat globe and a heat mat together?
thanks

1. You are ideally looking for 32-34°C as a surface temperature. Measure that with a thermometer or an IR gun though. Don't just go off the thermostat dial. You also want to make sure only about 1/3 of the click clack is sitting on the heat and the rest is getting into the low 20s if possible.

2. You can do it but it would be superfluous. One heat source is fine.

thanks saximus
so 32-34 as a surface temperature. so as surface you mean on the direct plastic that the snake will sit on?
and what does superfluous mean. sorry

Yeah the temp directly on it rather than air temp. That's why IR guns are good.

Sorry superfluous just means unnecessary.
