Hallo, na das ist ja eine schöne Überraschung.
Ich wohne in der Nähe von Ulm/Donau.
Wo kommst Du ursprünglich her?
Wie lange wohnst Du schon in Australien?
Und wo ungefähr liegt Dein Wohnort?
Wenn es nach mir ginge, wäre ich schon lange in Australien,
aber meine "bessere Hälfte" hat da etwas dagegen.
Aber ich hoffe, dass ich irgend wann mal wenigstens in Australien
Urlaub machen kann. Das ist bei unseren vielen Tieren gar nicht
so einfach. Ich habe erst kürzlich von meiner Frau einen Naturreise-
führer von Australien bekommen, vielleicht war das ja "ein Wink mit
dem Zaunpfahl".
Was für Tiere pflegst Du denn selber?

Well, several years ago I kept bearded dragons. Yes you're right they are fantastic and
very lovely animals. At the moment I've got only one sort of agamids: Uromastyx acanthinura
nigriventris.

ich bin in der Naehe von Bonn geboren und aufgewachsen, und wohne jetzt in der Naehe von Canberra. Wir sind in 1990 ausgewandert.

Ja, es ist gar nicht einfach, einen Babysitter zu finden. Ich hoffe, dass du einen findest - die Reise lohnt sich. Naja, vielleicht moechte deine Frau auswandern, nachdem ihr hier Urlaub gemacht habt.

Ich hab nur eine Schlange, eine Antaresia maculosa, und irgendwann haett ich auch gern ein paar Geckos.

Deine Uromaxstyx sehen echt cool aus! Was fuer ein Temperament haben die?

Hallo Nicole,

also die Uromastyx kann man vom Verhalten her schon mit Bartagamen vergleichen.
Sie sind relativ ruhige Tiere. Nur wenn sie meine Frau mit dem Grünfutter erspähen
ist es mit der Gemütlichkeit vorbei. Dann rennen sie ganz aufgeregt hin und her.
Aber es sind wirklich liebenswerte und pflegeleichte Tiere.(Obwohl es oft heißt,
dass Uromastyx heikel sind)
Bei dem tollen Angebot an Geckos in Australien kann man schon schwach werden.
Vielleicht wirst Du ja noch eines Tages geckosüchtig!?

I'll make a short summary for all non-German readers:
Nicole asked me in which city I live in Germany. Nicole emigrated in 1990 from Germany
to Australia. I told her that I would also like to emigrate to Australia but my wife won't do that.
But I hope that I can make a trip to Australia on holiday and that it wouldn't be so easy to find a "babysitter" for all our animals.
I wanted to know where she lives in Australia and what kind of animals she
keeps. She keeps an Antaresia maculosa at the moment but she would like to keep
some geckos in the future.
And Nicole asked me what temper the Uromastyx have. I answered that you can compare
them with bearded dragons and that they are very calm. Only on feeding time they run like
crazy back and forth when my wife arrives with some green fodder .

My dad is austrian but migrated to australia when he was 6 so doesnt really speak the language. I dont know anything but i wish i did...

wow, I'm astonished that you learned German at school. It's a very difficult language with
a difficult grammer. That's cool.
When I translate it you said "I am a one and twenty years old". So you're 21 right?
In German you say: "Ich bin einundzwanzig Jahre alt"
So it does make a sense. I'm impressed.

Hello grimbeny,
wow that's great. Do you have any relatives in Austria?
Austria is a wonderful land with amazing mountains.
The Alps are very impressive.
When the weather conditions are very good I can see the Alps,
though they are over 60 miles away from my hometown.
