It'll be 6 years in October. I had them in seperate holdong containers, whilst they were hatchlings. Whilst looking for an enclosure I liked I got a deal I couldn't refuse on the one they are in now. So rather than pushing my luck with my wife I decided to house them together. Originally as a temp messure only. The rest is history as they say.

hmm..... The fella I got mine off... Has his snakes housed in multiples of 2 or 3. And he says he has never had a problem.

So it surely must be ok provided they get separated at feed time. And are of similar size? (possible risk if not).

Though I will be building a spare enclosure for if something happens, (touch wood) if one of them gets sick.
Sums It Up I Guess!!!

50% of the people I Know that have housed bhps together have eventually lost one to the others appertite. Good luck.

hi all,
at the monent all mine are seperate, but i do know a couple people on this site that keep pairs together all year around,
hey afro, don't you also keep your childrens together,
i'm planing on keeping my children, maccies and stimmy pairs together when they reach adults, i'm also thinking about putting all my coastal females together in a spare room but need to get it set up first,

i guess in the long run it will all depend on the snake itself,

cheers,
steve..........

If you do keep them together make sure you seperate to feed. Friend learnt the hard way (after a $500 vet bill and lots of worrying). :(

i keep 2 coastals together all the time, We had a house fire recently and had to keep all our reptiles over at a friends house until i could fix their enclosure due to fire and water damage, they were housed seperately there and seemed to really stress out so i put them back together and they were all good again. The only time i dont have them together is during feeding, other than that they are the best of mates, always curled up together, I supose if i ever want to breed them i will have to seperate them to be cooled down but i will cross that bridge when the time comes.

what im planing on doing (eventually) is housing my macs in pairs, with two pairs i will cool them and then just swap males around, this way they will be stimulated by the sent of the other male. hopefully. does anybody do this?

Sound good, I would do similar if I had more than the one pair. Have read one this site one bloke who taped a spotted python fight between two males after separating the winner mated the female immediately. He then removed the winner and put in the loser and it mated with the female as well. You risk injury to the losing male perhaps, I don't know how common breeding fights cause injuries.

My maccie pair have had no probs but I wouldn't risk more expensive species that have a reputation for canabilism. Definatly not with reptile eating specialists like the womas and BHPs. I wouldn't put them together except for breeding.
