I cant believe noone has mentioned them and maybe it is because you are in cairns and they are a cooler weather animal, but Murray Darlings are awesome! Placid yet inquisitive.

definitely go roughy! i love mine to death, so much personality and so placid =] never shown any aggression at all. They grow to a manageable size as well so feeding and housing is a bit cheaper and easier then a much larger species. They are so gorgeous as well with their bright blue eyes!

BHPs aren't cooler weather animals. They live in the tropics of Australia. All the top end of Australia is BHP country.
