it has prob been up before and ive missed it

an ad for gtp for between $700-$1000

i enquired and this is the respone i got.

hi , i can't send photos, i'm in sydney, it's not a typo, they're legit &
yes, i'm serious.

i'm new to oz, so i had no idea of local prices. back in the u.s these gtp's
are popular so i'm just asking for what i paid for my hatchlings. they are
equivalent to other top end specs & $.
they are just as easy to breed as other morelia, once you understand their
specific needs.
i'm amazed they're not more popular over here.

i've been overwhelmed by responses & been brought up to speed. are you guys
serious?!
$10000! for a hatchling! and they're ozy snakes! what's up with this?

thanks everyone for all the gos. makes interesting reading! including
corruption & conspiracy theories.
a breeder just told me that widlife authorities raid local breeders in nqld
& elsewhere to keep the prices high. seriously!? makes me wonder about my
best specs i lost in quarantine.
i personally think that when prices are too high, you get theft &
corruption.
i for one am going to keep my prices reasonable as an antidote to this
situation.
(so long as i don't get done myself!). makes me a little nervous knowing my
clutches are worth more than my house! if some of you are pulling my leg
then can someone level with me!

anyway, they're cheaper cos i figure they're png/oz, not pure & i'm not in
it for the $
what i've decided to do anyway, is swap for other top end specs, or just
interesting herps.
so if you don't mind, i'll exchange instead. i'm particularly interested in
these specs:-

black & gold jungle pythons, yellow diamonds, pygmy pythons, oenpelli,
thorny devils, frilled necks, pygmy monitors, perentie and albino's of any
specs.

so please tell me what you want to swap & send photos if you can.

Yeah, I bought them all, Got them half price because I bought the lot.

i emailed him too and go tthe same response. Bit strange havent heard from him after that email though and i have replied a couple of times, and yes it has been here a couple of days ago.

Sounds like a load of crap to me. Has anyone even asked him if they are on licence and legal????

yes everyone did teamsherman, the first para is yes there legit. I thought the same but who would go to all the trouble of replyin to the emails in that detailed of a response for kicks? Sounds like he was being honest if he is new to oz than how would he no how much there worth there is never any for sale so no one really knows its all just rumors.

I say good on him they should be lowered and maybe we can all keep one!!

So he is new to oz ay?? Its taken me years to even think about getting a GTP, how did he get one from Oz and one from PNG to cross and breed them so quickly????

Pffft, im not buying it!!!!!!!! (literally)

So how did he get the parents without knowing they cost and arm and a kidney?

Exactly my argument too fuscy.

RE: Re: RE: has anyone seen this yet??

well i figured that as he said some of his other animals were stopped in quarentine than maybe he got the GTP's because there australian?? I dont no the laws on this does anyone?

All im saying is why would he go to the trouble posting everything and then emailing such a massive response to so many people for no reason?

RE: Re: RE: has anyone seen this yet??

Could be a nigerian herp scam. He's waiting for someone to say "yeah, i'll buy one" then he gets the money and doesnt give up the snakes.

Also, its illegal for him to bring in his herps from overseas. And there is no way he could have got them in legally. So, no matter how many "legit" emails he sends out, i wont believe it till i see one that someone has bought off him in the flesh.

Pics or it didnt happen. (thats for you huggy ;) )

RE: Re: RE: has anyone seen this yet??

Have any of you even stopped to consider if it is legal to import AUSTRALIAN pythons into AUSTRALIA.

Have any of you stopped to consider if you can why the price of GTP has not dropped considerably and why there are no Jaguar Carpet Pythons in Australia.

I doubt it.

RE: Re: RE: has anyone seen this yet??

thats what im askin mcdowelli. I dont no if it is or not but does anyone here? just because they can doesnt mean they will drop the price at all but this person seems to want to so good on him if it is legit.

I highly doubt anyone is going to hand over the money without seeing the snake or gettin it in there hand, if so they are absolute morons.

RE: Re: RE: has anyone seen this yet??

unless for shipping reasons of course!

RE: Re: RE: has anyone seen this yet??

You can not import ANY reptile unless you've got permits which you need very high authority to get.

RE: Re: RE: has anyone seen this yet??

And i reckon uncle Jeff would have trouble getting the permits too!!!

RE: Re: RE: has anyone seen this yet??

thanks dicco! well anyways i guess we will have to wait and see what happens, but seriously would you guys rather the price stay at 5-10 grand and hardly anyone be able to keep them or someone like this guy (if hes real) drop the price so the average joe like me and many more can keep them!

RE: Re: RE: has anyone seen this yet??

Everyone loves a bargain pugs, but sometimes if its too good to be true, its not true!

RE: Re: RE: has anyone seen this yet??
