i am building an enclosure that i was going to use for a spotted python but then im thinking that while a spotted python would be a very nice pet, i wouldn't mind something maybe just a bit bigger, not aiming for anything massive and would like it to fit the following criteria (hope im not being to picky)
#1 able to be housed in 1000L x 600W x 500H mm
#2 good handler, easy to hold
#3 relatively simple to look after
#4 not overly expensive (to keep and to buy)
i would really love what everyone has to say and would aslo like to here about your python and what it is like, any and all comment are much appreciated,
cheers

having to get a larger enclosure once older is one of the things i was really hoping to avoid, not sure is there is anything bigger than a spotted that would suit my requirements, would love to be proven wrong though. are there any pythons that average at around 2m? and would that be big enough for such a snake?

The python you want is that one that feels right when you see it
Basically if it 'feels' right; 99% of the time it is the right one
That is especially true if you want one to 'play' with
If people buy a dog or cat or even a fish they go see it first
Then they buy it
That is always the best thing to do with any animal

[womas are awesome]

personally im not a big fan of womas, thats just me tho, aslo i would love to go somewhere that i can see and possibly hold a variety of pythons just so i can actually see in real life which i like best instead of just deciding from pictures, anywhere on the sunshine coast i could go to do that? thanks

Don't know the area well but the steve irwin zoo might be an idea or contact the Sunshine Coast Reptile and Amphibian Clubwww.scrac.org.au

thanks for your help will look into maybe going to a meeting or something or possibly find someone with a private collection that dosent mind me taking a look, cheers

[womas are awesome] second womas are awesome!

and i will third the motion....womas are extremley laid back cruisy kind of snakes, they're cool bro, cool!mine is named Jeffrey, cos who could be scared of a Jeffrey.he loves grass time, don't even have to hold him,he don't go far from me.

as i said before womas just arent for me, no offence. aslo what size enclosure would a bredli need and what would that have to eat? really i think i would need to actually see some fully grown snakes to actually decide for myself what i think is big or not

stimsons python would be a step in the oposite direction, i was really hoping for something a bit bigger than a spotted but not so much larger that it wouldnt be able to be kept in the enclosure im building, but am starting to think that there is not such thing, although im sure i would be quite happy with a spotted its just that i would prefer something just a bit bigger, anyone got any good photos of there adult spotted python with someone in it for size comparison? cheers
