the "most posts in 2 weeks" idea is silly....imagine how many garbage posts would be flooding the forums.

I agree with Sdaji. It should somehow be knowledge based on herps. After all, we're supposed to all be herp nuts so really it wouldnt be disadvantaging many people. Plus there's always google so if you don't know something what's wrong with researching it so you do?

I've changed my mind, let's make it a lottery.

I'm applying for a job tomorrow, I'm going to tell them that they have to give the position to someone based on a lottery system, to give everyone an equal chance; it's no good discriminating against people who are less skilled or have less knowledge of the industry.

I'm going to tell the car companies that they have to give their vehicles away for free, to avoid discriminating against people without money.

Those game shows on the telly where people answer trivia questions are so stupid! They're biased towards the people who are best at answering trivia questions!

Fines handed out for running red lights are biased towards bad drivers! It's so unfair! When someone runs a red light the fine should go to a random motorist... but I suppose that's discriminating against motorists... the fine should go to a random person.

Why would you want to spoil the act of a very generous man who is willing to give away close to $10,000 worth of snakes with a fun competition? Surely he should just have to skip that process and give them to random people! How rude I was to think that people might have to somehow qualify! Let's tell him he is being a selfish, selfish man for wanting to bring about a situation where people are having a fun competition, surely it is clear that he should just be giving a ridiculous amount of money worth of animals to people who have done nothing; it's his duty after all, isn't it? Hard work should not be rewarded, we should all have equal access to everything, no matter who we are or what we do.

I've decided to give away everything I've ever worked hard to obtain, because by owning these things I am discriminating against people who haven't worked hard. I am also going to give away everything I've been lucky enough to obtain, because by owning these things I am discriminating against people who have been unlucky. I now see the error of my ways! I see the light!

...let me see how many false accounts I can set up on this site before the competition begins... if each of them enters the lottery I'm in with a huge chance! Awesome! Let the one with the most entries win! Hooray! :D Uh oh, that would be discriminating against people who didn't think of making a large number of false accounts! What to do?

;) :) :D :p ;) :) :p  (let me know if I need more smilies to keep myself out of trouble ;) )

i think that a lottery/raffle would be good. you should actually purchase your ticket for $5.00 or $10.00 and funds raised could go towards the running of this site or used in some other way, maybe prize for next comp. one ticket per member.
should be only open to members that have joined by a certain date.
cheers:)

I agree, a lottery of some sort, that way every one has an equal chance. Perhaps the proceeds could go to a charity. The only down side being you will need to obtain relevant state gaming permits if you want to operate a lottery!

Oh, and ex members who still have an account here should not be able to enter.

I reckon make it easy.

Everyone's name goes in a draw once a month, the names get drawn out and in order of how they come out they get points allocated, all the way from first out to last out.

Then every month your points are added together and we can view it on a table ( like the footy tips).

That way it is completly random and its anyones game right till the end, it is up to luck.

If it is a photo comp ( it is bias to people who have great cameras and a photograpic background)

If it is a question knowledge comp ( then it is bias to the more experianced or people who dont work or go to school ( and can sit on the net for hours getting information)

Simon has asked for it to be fair on every level, i think my idea is fair to everyone.

donk

i dont think its fair at all i have no luck :(

i like the idea of different entries being worth a set amount
IE photo = 1 entry and an Essay = 2 entries
then at the end its random
then anyone can enter but in the end its not based on Skill with pen or Camera and younger kids have a better chance. But still have to work for it

But there should be a limit to how many entries you do a month

well
they could make it so theres a pic of a reptile(not only aussie) with multiple choice on it so that makes it a bit easyer of the people who dont know as much
and
every month theres a less common reptile
thats just what i think
i like my idear:)

i think the raffle is basicly out, sounds like simon wants people to work for it.

I don't think it should be skill related at all. If it were, how on earth could a 15 yo (or younger) compete with someone with 45 years experience in the industry?

lol. Lets make it a questionair about my life so it diesnt descriminate about me:p

what i have been saying all along is do it like randon trivia, how many people who have been in the industry 45+yrs will know all the member of the backstreet boys. We can all use google to help, no1 is more advantaged then others

i think i would kill myself if i won the albino;)

I vote for MrBredli's drinking contest!!! :D

or we all commandeer the big brother house once its finished filming and live like they do, and slatey is big brother who sets the rules and the general public can vote us out! lol

like when they did celebrity bb.... instead it will be APS bb.... :)
