every1 would have seen the prices the snake ranch have on this seasons hatchlings!
what does every1 think? imagine gtp prices when they get them goin! i guess its good for the hobby but they could verry well self desruct! thats if prices keep goin down, which seems to be there trend. but i can say this much. if its a marketing plan to push others out i dont like there chances. but good luck to them

Bout 2 days behind mate, there is a thread

Snake Ranch Promotion discussing it.

yeh i thought i would start another based on marketing of herps, and what the future holds, the other thread is more talking about what ya gunna buy.

I see it as a good thing , but ....
cant see it making do much difference though unless SR keep these prices all the time , as it looks like just a one of special it may not make much of a difference to the market ...

Only the albino and het prices are cheap, all the other prices are pretty much the going rate for those species. People were selling Tanami Womas for $1200 a pair last season.

It is good for the general Herp community no Doubt.

Making more animals available to more people is a good thing I agree, but if I paid 18k for a pair of Roughies expecting to sell them for 10-12k pair now they have dropped to 7500 a pair in 12 months..

Again good for us, but would have set a few people off..

We have a deposit on a pair of QLD BHP's but no guarantee of getting unrelated pairs, they said they would do their best, I'm happy with that. Look forward to Feb.

You have to compare apples with apples . Snake Ranch is offering forward orders for snakes which may or may not materialise. Its their choice wether they deliver or not. Some buyers prefer a cheap chance in the future whilst others prefer to wait for animals they can see and touch. Other breeders will have to decide do they match the percieved lower prices or wait and capitalise on a shortage of supply if Snake Ranch doesn't perform. Its an interesting waiting game.

I think they are making 50% of expected offspring available via this 20/20 order.

And of course you are entitled to a full refund if they can't provide the hatchling within 2 weeks (I think) of it's expected availability date. So there's not much to lose really.

i use the search function quite frequently actually - you'll notice i don't actually ask many questions or start too many new threads - snake ranch however, doesn't have a search function - and i want to know how much they're selling their animals for - crazy huh?

I do feel for you pugsly and no doubt other breeders will not be happy.
I've ordered pairs for the whole stimmie range they had available - absolute value for money.
I'm almost getting 2 pairs for nothing going on other breeders prices.
I still refuse to spend big money on different types of pythons due to your experience with
the roughies.

Certainly not in that position Mungas.

I dont own any Roughies or anything at all in that price range, as I said, its good for me, but I feel for the people who DID pay that much.

Indeed, and all those people breeding albinos and hets, all that hard work and money they've spent to get hatchlings. I don't think it's right. Again, I'm not one of those people but it's not fair to them.

Well I guess like any investment there are always risks. If I did own roughies and paid alot for them I would be unhappy..... but at least now there is a chance I may be able to own one in the future.:)
