Great day put on by Simon and the Gladstone people. :D

Displays were excellent and very informative. All exhibitors made themselves available to the public with information, advice and hands on displays. To my knowledge no rubbish was told and correct and friendly advice and directions were given.

The expo was certainly a great success and I am positive it will be bigger and better next time.

I personally would like to see more exhibits from around QLD/AUST at the next expo and am sure it will happen.

I am also thankful for the support from the EPA in allowing it to happen and the help they gave.

We are very proud, but at the same time humbled to take out the awards we did, especially best reptile with our beautiful female diamond python. I always new she was good but to take out such award over GTP's, rough scales and some beautiful BHP's, womas and albino darwin carpets was awesome.

I do not take claim to fame for breeding her as we bought her as a hatchy from Daniel Cull. We look forward to breeding her hopefully in the not too distant future and perhaps there could be a line called Culley's diamonds.

Thanks to all and a big thanks to the public for their enormous support.

The only problem now is thanks to all the wonderful reptiles displayed our wish list now has grown considerably - to now include Olives( like the ones displayed by Garth), BHP's and maybe the odd gecko or 2.

Cheers
Ian and Paula

Will post some pictures shortly - having computer problems..........

More photos

Here is some photos as promised from the expo......
The winning diamond and her proud owner , our display, one of the GTP's from Premier pythons , and Garths Albino Darwin and one of his Olives.

Hope you like....:)

Will post some more soon....

and more photos

And here's some more....

2 photos of part of Simons display and one of his albino darwins, a rough scale from Premier pythons and one of Alan's BHP's.

If anyone has photos of the young man with the thick tail gecko and the other young man with the jungle python could they please post them as they were as much as part of the day as anyone else.

Also any photos of Dereks and Garths display would be much appreciated - as I did not take as many photos as I thought.

Huge thanks Simon & everyone else involved for all the hard work that went into putting on the first QLD expo. My kids are still talking about what a great day it was so you definately have a big thumbs up from us. That is absolutely selfless of you to donate the profits to your local hospital & i'm sure all the parents & staff involved will appreciate it, good on you mate:D I will include a few pics from the day, sorry they aren't the greatest I was too excited to worry about the camera focusing:lol:

Props to Simon (slimbo) and all others that contributed to the obvious success of the expo.

Nice work guys, from what I heard the turnout was staggering........

Well done

The show looked so fun even from the pictures, hopefully the Sydney one is going to be as good, or even better!

This is my first chance since getting home to get onto a computer and say a few words about the Gladstone expo.

Firstly I'd like to congratulate everyone on their efforts to put this expo on. I really enjoyed meeting you all too. The displays you guys put on ( Simon, Derek, Kris, Garth) were great and Kris' venomous display was a real crowd pleaser - I enjoyed it, although it was hard to see at times through the 5-deep audience crowding round it.

Many of you may not realise that there was no financial motive behind the show and it was done just to educate the public and promote reptile keeping. As well as the monumental effort that was put in, the guys risked their own funds to put the not-for-profit show on. As it turned out a healthy profit was made and this is being donated to charity.

I must confess that one of the highlights for me was the following day when I was a passenger in Slimebo's super sedan class Torana. If any of you have done a quarter mile in well under 10 seconds you will understand what it felt like. This car does 0-100km/hr in 1.2 seconds!! Its like be kicked in the butt by a 1 tonne boot producing 850 bhp. Reptiles and dragsters - what a weekend.

Congratualations again guys. The result was outstanding and showed what can be achieved by dedicated herps in regional areas and just how much interest in our reptiles there is out there in the general community. I'll see you next year for sure and yes Kris I'm looking forward to a run on the Suzuki Hayabusa.

Dissapointed I didnt get a chance to meet you! Maybe next year :D

Anyway heres some more photos

Thanks for that Doc, and a big thanks to everybody that had a display, came through the doors and the few helpers that without would have made my Venomous demos more difficult.
It was good to meet so many people that have the same interest as us. A few from aps introduced themselves so it was good to put faces to names.
Next year it looks like the hall nextdoor will be were we hold the expo which will be handy because it has twice the floorspace so there can be lots more displays(maybe even some turtle people can show their turtles off??) and a "grandstand" that the vens can be displayed infront of so many more people can see the snakes better.
Again, thanks to everybody that came along and made our expo the success that it was.

Cheers,

Kris

a few more photos of one of Simon Stones runs in my car and a few of the people watching
