Wait until they start to growl at you and jump and dart around like you are going to eat them. Funny little buggers:lol:

Hey Nikki,

You know the offer is always there if you want to come and see some big BHP's if your dad feels like the drive.

nikki i agree with you that bhp are awsome snakes but u also have to think campared to a bredli they are quite aggressive feeders

well there ya go never knew that

i have been told by several ppl watch out for feeding time with the bhps

Nikki, if you and your dad moved to God's country, South Australia that is, you can have a Woma on a basic licence!! We have civilised legislation here.

Good onya Nikki,
If you are still chasing a bhp in Feb let me know,
Cheers
Adam.

To anyone making fun of Nikki's spelling - seriously, grow up!

For an 11 year old girl, Nikki has been extremely mature when it comes to her interest in herps, the amount of research and question-asking she did prior to getting her Bredli would put a lot of older herpers to shame!

I say go for it Nikki, I hope you get your BHP or Woma :D They are both lovely pythons.

I don't think anyone was making fun of Nikki's spelling to be honest. My first post was very obviously a joke.
I just think people need to be aware of what is involved. I asked how long she had been keeping and what snakes she had kept, I got no reply so left it at that.

Boa - Nikki is 11yrs old and has recently acquired her first snake - a Bredli. In saying that though, most of us were quite amazed at the amount of research she put in before purchasing - especially for her age (no offense meant Nikki)...

Don't worry Nikki - you have two years to learn about Womas as they are Class 2 in NSW...
You mean 7 years;)

Fair enough. Like I said, she did sooo much research into pythons before she got her Bredli, and she is not afraid to ask questions (which is great - it's the best way to learn). Her parents are not going to let her just rush out and get a BHP without knowing how to care for one (and obviously the Woma is not available on Class 1). So she is doing the right thing by trying to find out as much info as possible and asking opinions of the many experienced herpers on APS. Good on her! :)

I agree, I love to see your kids genuinely interested in reptiles and not just wanting to get a big snake or handle Elapids. Nikki certainly does seem to fit in the genuinely interested category and as you say good on her for that.
We need more young keepers getting into and staying in the hobby.

We can have them on a standard recreational licence up here, but we're only allowed two. Otherwise we need an advanced licence of some sort, not sure how to obtain it. Never really looked into it. I really want a pair of those Topaz Tanami Woma's being bred by SouthernX.

you need references etc to get an advanced permit

i MUST agree with the feeding repsonse with bhps and bredlis. I had a bredli who ate every time food was offered, but he wouldnt ever grab the mouse/rat no matter what i did, so id leave it in there and 2 mins later hed be scoffing it down, even tho he would strike at me, he'd rarely strike & get into a frenzy around food. My 2 bhps are savage feeders. They both go into a frenzy into a feeding mode and my bhp female even more so than the male, full on frenzy strikes at everything in sight until she gets the rat, both very alert.

Hornet if your meaning the restricted license for more than 2 restricted animals, then sorry but your wrong there. I applied for my restricted license last week and its in the process. I didnt need ANY references, as im not getting a restricted venomous license. Only for that do you need references. Im going for a non ven restricted reptiles & restricted birds license.
